Information for Insurance Agent/Producers

Important Information

Bullet New rules clarify how insurance agents are paid
New rules adopted by the Oregon Department of Consumer & Business Services will provide consumers with better information about how insurance agents are paid. Also, the Insurance Division's investigation of allegations of bid-rigging, price-fixing, and payoffs involving insurance brokers and insurance companies is continuing.

Bullet Insurance law workshop offered for agents
The Insurance Division's Investigations Unit is teaching a workshop on Oregon law for insurance agents. There are no new workshops currently scheduled, however, please check back for upcoming workshops.

Bullet Surplus Lines Licensing
The state of Oregon is now accepting producer applications for surplus lines licensing from all states, except Washington. We apologize for any inconvenience to Washington producers, but must note that Washington is the only state in the country that imposes a second examination requirement on surplus lines producers who are licensed as resident producers in Oregon and already have passed an examination in Oregon. We are attempting to work out a solution to this situation that is mutually beneficial to Oregon and Washington.

Bullet Continuing education requirements for resident agents

Bullet New licensing laws effective January 1, 2004
